Guide

How it works with the game

Three rules that map Palette House on your Switch to this studio.

  • Fixed canvas size

Designs use 256×256 game pixels (or a rectangular preset for TV, book cover, etc.). Match the canvas shape in the sidebar to your in-game category.

  • Grid view = guides only

In-game Grid view (off / 2×2 / 4×4 / 8×8) draws reference lines. It does not resize your art or change pixel size.

  • Brush = pixel size

Brush size sets how chunky each cell is. The studio Brush control and Recipe card mirror in-game pixel-perfect mode (4 · 8 · 16 · 32 px).

Side by side

Grid overlay only

Off
4×4
8×8

Same art — only the reference lines change.

Brush size changes pixels

32 px
16 px
8 px

Same canvas — larger brush means fewer, bigger cells.

Remember: Grid view is optional eye candy. Brush size is what counts. Use 8×8 grid in-game to line up with the site.
